श्री मधुराष्टकम् में है श्रीकृष्ण के श्याम-सुन्दर चरित्र का वर्णन
Madhurashtakam is a kavya, describing the Sweetness of Shree Krishn. Madhurashtakam was originally written in Sanskrit but is easily understood.
The ‘Madhurasthakam’, was composed by Shri VallabhAchary in AD 1492 at midnight; when Shree Krishn Himself Appeared before Shri VallabhAcharyji in the Swarup of Shree GokulChandramaji. (One of the Nidhi Swarup of Shree Krishn).
It was on the day of Pavitra Ekadashi that Shri Mahaprabhuji wrote the Madurastakam.
This day is important for bhakts, as today is the day when Shri VallabhAchary received the Brahm sambandh mantra from Shree Krishn Himself.
The Varta about this leela goes as:
Nearly 520 years ago, on Vikram SV 1549 or AD 1492, Shravan Shukl Giyaras, Shree Krishn Himself Appeared in the Form of Shree GokulChandramaji before Shri VallabhAchary. He told Shri Vallabhacharya to initiate people in the ways of total surrender and seva, through Brahm Sambandh. Thakurjee made a commitment to Shri VallabhAchary that He would accept the seva of all the bhakts who were initiated with the Brahm sambandh. Shree Krishn gave him the Mantra for initiation on this day.
Shri Mahaprabhuji then garlanded Shree Krishn with a “Pavitra” (cotton thread mala) and offered Him some misri (sugar pieces). After this divine meeting Shree Krishn in the Swarup of Shree GokulChandramaji disappeared.
Shrimad VallabhAcharyji after having the divine sakshatkar (darshans) of Shree Krishn in the Swarup of Shree GokulChandramaji, was very blissful. Describing this divine madhur sakshatkar with Bhagwan Shree Krishn he wrote the divine ashtak known as the famous 'Madhurashtakam'.
Shri DamodarDas Harsaniji was the first vaishnav to be initiated into Pushti Bhakti marg by receiving Brahm-Sambandh from Shri MahaPrabhuji.
The words of this divine rachna in sanskrit, hindi, english:
1) अधरं मधुरं वदनं मधुरं नयनं मधुरं हसितं मधुरम् ।
हृदयं मधुरं गमनं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥१॥
हे कृष्ण!) आपके होंठ मधुर हैं, आपका मुख मधुर है, आपकी आंखें मधुर हैं, आपकी मुस्कान मधुर है, आपका हृदय मधुर है, आपकी चाल मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ।।1।।

2) वचनं मधुरं चरितं मधुरं वसनं मधुरं वलितं मधुरम् ।
चलितं मधुरं भ्रमितं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥२॥
आपका बोलना मधुर है, आपके चरित्र मधुर हैं, आपके वस्त्र मधुर हैं, आपका तिरछा खड़ा होना मधुर है, आपका चलना मधुर है, आपका घूमना मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ।।2।।

3) वेणुर्मधुरो रेणुर्मधुरः पाणिर्मधुरः पादौ मधुरौ ।
नृत्यं मधुरं सख्यं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥३॥
आपकी बांसुरी मधुर है, आपके लगाए हुए पुष्प मधुर हैं, आपके हाथ मधुर हैं, आपके चरण मधुर हैं, आपका नृत्य मधुर है, आपकी मित्रता मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है। ।।3।।

4) गीतं मधुरं पीतं मधुरं भुक्तं मधुरं सुप्तं मधुरम् ।
रूपं मधुरं तिलकं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥४॥
आपके गीत मधुर हैं, आपका पीना मधुर है, आपका खाना मधुर है, आपका सोना मधुर है, आपका रूप मधुर है, आपका टीका मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ।।4।।

5) करणं मधुरं तरणं मधुरं हरणं मधुरं रमणं मधुरम् ।
वमितं मधुरं शमितं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥५॥
आपके कार्य मधुर हैं, आपका तैरना मधुर है, आपका चोरी करना मधुर है, आपका प्यार करना मधुर है, आपके शब्द मधुर हैं, आपका शांत रहना मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ।।5।।

6) गुञ्जा मधुरा माला मधुरा यमुना मधुरा वीची मधुरा ।
सलिलं मधुरं कमलं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥६॥
आपकी घुंघची मधुर है, आपकी माला मधुर है, आपकी यमुना मधुर है, उसकी लहरें मधुर हैं, उसका पानी मधुर है, उसके कमल मधुर हैं, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ।।6।।

Your gunja necklace is sweet, Your pushp mala is sweet,
sweet is the Yamuna river, and sweet are her rippling waves,
her water is sweet, and sweet are the lotus flowers also,

7) गोपी मधुरा लीला मधुरा युक्तं मधुरं मुक्तं मधुरम् ।
दृष्टं मधुरं शिष्टं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥७॥
आपकी गोपियां मधुर हैं, आपकी लीला मधुर है, आप उनके साथ मधुर हैं, आप उनके बिना मधुर हैं, आपका देखना मधुर है, आपकी शिष्टता मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ।।7।

8) गोपा मधुरा गावो मधुरा यष्टिर्मधुरा सृष्टिर्मधुरा ।
दलितं मधुरं फलितं मधुरं मधुराधिपतेरखिलं मधुरम् ॥८॥
आपके गोप मधुर हैं, आपकी गायें मधुर हैं, आपकी छड़ी मधुर है, आपकी सृष्टि मधुर है, आपका विनाश करना मधुर है, आपका वर देना मधुर है, मधुरता के ईश हे श्रीकृष्ण! आपका सब कुछ मधुर है ।।8।।
